The Cake Picnic Tour made its first-ever Midwest stop in Minneapolis — and the only tour stop themed as Betty Crocker’s 104th birthday party, honoring the baking icon born right here in Minnesota. Held at the Walker Sculpture Garden with the Spoonbridge & Cherry setting the scene, over 600 attendees arrived with homemade cakes (rule #1: no cake, no entry) to join a uniquely organized cake swap.
Guests were divided by color-coded name tags and allowed one 5-minute round each to collect slices from the two massive cake tables — once everyone had a turn, seconds and thirds were fair game. Cherry-themed installations by Northern Urbanity, an Olipop probiotic soda bar and a towering appetizer cake by Sugarspoon Desserts made this stop a sugary celebration of local legacy, art, and community creativity.
